The MQ-9 Reaper (formerly known as Predator B) is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capable of remote controlled or autonomous flight. It was developed by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) primarily for the United States Air Force (USAF). It was introduced in 2007. The RAF currently operates 10 Reapers armed with Hellfire and Brimstone systems. Unit cost is US$16.9 million. ISIL member Mohammed Emwazi, popularly known as ‘Jihadi John’, was successfully eliminated by a Reaper strike in Al-Raqqah, Syria, in November 2015.
