22 Engineer Regiment of the British Army’s Corps of Royal Engineers provides Engineer Close Support to 1 Armoured Infantry Brigade. Based at Swinton Barracks in Perham Down, near Tidworth, the Regiment consists of the following units: 6 Headquarters and Support Squadron; 3 Armoured Engineer Squadron; 5 Armoured Engineer Squadron; 52 Armoured Engineer Squadron; Falcon (Area Survey and Reconnaissance) Squadron; and the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Light Aid Detachment. As a high-readiness unit, 22 Engineer Regiment are ready to fight at short notice anywhere across the world, usually in support of 1 Armoured Infantry Brigade.
