77th Brigade Gets Boost From Modernising Defence Programme
Narrative Central to Modern Conflict, Says Defence Secretary
In a speech outling the UK’s new Modernising Defence Programme, Britain’s Defence Secretary, the Rt Hon Gavin Williamson CBE, has highlighted the contribution played by the 77th Brigade, according to the MOD.
Based at Denison Barracks in Berkshire, the 77th Brigade is the British Army’s information operations wing.
New Programme Will Accelerate Development of the 77th Brigade
In his speech, “Hard As Well As Soft Power: The Case for Modern Defence”, Williamson told the audience that the UK must be able to respond to the changing nature of warfare.
The Conservative MP for South Staffordshire, Williamson was appointed Secretary of State for Defence on 2 November 2017. Before that he was Chief Whip (Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury) from 14 July 2016 to 2 November 2017.
