The Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4 is a twin-engine, canard-delta wing, multirole fighter designed and manufactured by a consortium of Alenia Aermacchi, Airbus Group, and BAE Systems through a joint holding company, Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH. NATO Eurofighter 2000 and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA) manages the project and is the prime customer. The Typhoon’s high agility makes it a formidable dogfighter, but it is primarily deployed on air-to-surface strike missions utilising Storm Shadow and Brimstone. The RAF first took delivery of the Typhoon in 2007, with air-to-ground capability ready by 2008. The 2011 military intervention in Libya saw the RAF’s Typhoons making their combat debut in ground attack. The RAF has a current order for 232 Typhoons, 138 of which have been delivered as of November 2016.
