CANSEC 2018: Canada’s Global Defence and Security Tradeshow
Annual Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries Tradeshow Starts 30 May 2018
CANSEC is Canada’s Global Defence and Security Tradeshow, Canada’s premier 2-day defence and security event. Stretching over 135,000 sq feet indoors, with another 16,800 sq feet of outdoor interactive displays, CANSEC is the biggest and most important tradeshow in Canada.
CANSEC has been held annually in Ottawa since 1998 by the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI). CANSEC 2017 saw 11,000 attendees – with some 600 VIPs from the military and government – visiting over 600 defence and security sector exhibitors. 14 MPs, Senators and cabinet Ministers are expected to attend the event.
CANSEC 2018 will once again showcase cutting-edge technology, products and services for land-based, naval, aerospace and joint forces military units. Featured exhibitors this year include Airbus, L3 Technologies, Thales, Qinetiq and Lockheed Martin.
Lockheed Martin Canada was named Canada’s top defence company for 2018 by Canada’s leading defence and militray magazine, Canadian Defence Review. In announcing this year’s rankings, Editor-in-Chief, Peter Kitchen, commented, “With the selection of Lockheed Martin Canada as our # 1 company, we are recognizing that it is possible for a major international defence company to truly invest in Canada and to develop home-grown technologies that not only benefit Canada, but are suitable for the export market as well.”
CANSEC opens on Wednesday, 30 May 2018, with an ‘Official Opening Breakfast’. Canada’s Minister of National Defence will give the keynote address before the exhibition halls open at 9 am.
During CANSEC, other keynotes will be given by Dominic Barton, Chair of the Minister of Finance’s Advisory Council on Economic Growth, and Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Public Services and Procurement.
Soucy Defence Division will also be exhibiting at CANSEC 2018, demonstrating their Composite Rubber Track (CRT) on a Leopard 1 Main Battle Tank. Soucy’s CRT was recently put though its paces by the British MOD’s Armoured Trials and Development Unit (ATDU) with testing on a Warrior Infantry Fighting Vehicle.
CANSEC 2018 ends at 16:00, Thursday, 31 May.
Attendance at all CANSEC events is restricted to CADSI members and government (federal, provincial, municipal, foreign) personnel only.
CANSEC 2018 will be held at the EY Centre, located at 4899 Uplands Drive in Ottawa, Ontario on May 30 – 31, 2018
