FEDOR Android Demonstrates Firepower
The Russian military has taken robotics to a new level with FEDOR – Final Expermintal Demonstration Object Research – an android capable of target practice.
FEDOR is being developed by Android Technics and the Advanced Research Fund as a project by Russia’s Emergencies Ministry.
Dmitry Rogozin tweeted that:
F.E.D.O.R. demonstrated his abilities to shoot from both hands… to set priorities instantly and make decisions.
Artificial Intelligence Ultimate Goal
FEDOR had previously been capable of a wide range of tasks, with the goal of building in self-learning abilities The CEO of Android Technics Research and Production Association, Alexander Permyakov, told TASS in December 2016 that:
It can build a 3D map of premises for local navigation, identify an object or an obstacle and perform an action as part of a prescribed scenario – to take up an instrument, carry out an operation with it, for example, to take up the key and open the lock in the door
2021 Space Flight
The FEDOR android is destined to be the sole occupant of the planned space flight of Russia’s new spacecraft Federatsiya in 2021.
